About Woodcarving Toyama
Born in 1945 in Takaoka Town, Higashimorokata District, Miyazaki Prefecture
In 1972, under the guidance of the late Noh mask maker Koshun Ishikura, he began researching Noh mask policy.
He was particularly captivated by the ultimate beauty of the female mask, Komen, and was deeply moved.
Noh masks are masterpieces of woodcarving art and can be said to be a great ancient classical performing art from the Muromachi period.
We would be delighted if you could enjoy the subtle beauty of these works of art up close.
