【Self-introduction】
I was born and brought up in a small town in the snow country.
I liked to read books, but rather they liked indoor play.
Before going up to elementary school, I learned how to make straw rope from grandmother and seniors in neighborhood, and I taught my mother knitting and sewing.
Even when you are alone, you can make a small chair with a toothpick, create branches, stones and other things around yourself as something.
The pleasure of making it became an important thing in my life if I noticed it.
Eventually I went to beautiful university. I learned mainly oil paintings started from high school and copper printmaking studied majoring in university.
However, I was not convinced that I would create oil paintings and copper prints and sell them and live and I faced the difficulty of making something and living.
Meanwhile, at a vocational training school that was to become a lecturer after graduating from university, I came to meet leather.
There are various fields such as painting, woodworking, metal processing, etc. I am in charge of lecturer of leather processing course.
What I was taught at a vocational training school is a bag with an old-fashioned heavy feeling. It was elaborate manufacturing method.
It is a process that creates a paper pattern with only rustic tools, cuts leather, and eventually finishes into a bag. And it seems that the finished things are blended into people's lives and melt in.
It reminded me of the pleasures that I felt when I was a childhood vividly.
I also want to make something close to everyday life. I was convinced.
Then, days when learning about leather began, when I became able to shape what I imagined, I started producing and selling leather goods. It is the beginning of KALEIDOSCOPE.
Since the chance was a leather bag, I became a leather writer deepening knowledge and postseasoning about leather, but anything that lies close to my life is fascinating, even in woodworking, metal and clothing.
Someday, the day may come when we deal with those materials.
However, even one material called leather learns too much deeply, learning other materials seems to be a long way to go.
I think that is a very happy thing.
