Inspired by the Codex Manesse (Latin Codex Manesse, also (also Große Heidelberger Liederhandschrift or Pariser Handschrift)Manes Manuscript ca. 1300) - a medieval illuminated manuscript, which is a collection of secular poetry (mainly Minnesingers) in Middle High German. The manuscript is "the most beautifully illumined German manuscript in centuries" its 137 miniatures are a series of "portraits" depicting each poet. 12-14 century.
