CHAIKA-3 CHAJKA-3 half-format 35mm film camera body M39 lens BeLOMO USSR AS-IS - Cameras - Other Metals

Product Description

BelOMO plant, 1970s CHAIKA-3 CAMERA'S BODY Chajka = Seagull ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) The Chaika cameras were produced in 1965-1973 years at Belorusskiy Optical and Mechanical Factory (BeLOMO). "Chaika" was space ID of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in the World who made the space voyage. Chaika is a half format camera (18 x 24 mm), it will give You 72 exposures with usual type 135 film. ITEM'S CONDITION: USABLE, AS-IS The camera still in working condition, except frame counter and return spring of film advance lever. It was the reason to place AS-IS condition even the camera still usable. The VF is clear and sharp. Metering pin moves. The shutter work looks good. I loaded old film and tested film winding and rewinding, all looks good. Cosmetically the camera looks gently used, just examine item's photos, please. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Frame size 18x24mm, usual type 135 film cassettes, for example 36 frames cassette will provide 72 half-format frames at presented camera. * Shutter speeds are 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250 sec. Synchronization with flash at any shutter speed. * The lens is removable, it mounted by the M39 screw, which looks similar with LTM (Leica thread Mount), but You'll can change those lenses between Chika cameras only. The lens will not provide "infinity" focusing at genuine 28.8mm LTM registration because it has 27.5mm registration. * The lens was made removable to print photos with enlarger, because most of Soviet 35mm enlargers had M39 lens mount. * Focusing is made with the scale of distances (in meters). * Aperture: from 1:2.8 up to 1:16 (no clicks). * Viewfinder is very simple, sharp and bright. * The light meter is presented. It can be installed 16, 32, 65, 130, 250 and 500 Soviet units "rOCT" (it is like ISO and ASA fim speed). Then You'll have to catch the metering pin by pointer, and to select any combination of shutter speed and aperture. Exposure-meter looks in working condition, the metering pin moves, but however I never can be sure that it is enough exact. * Shutter cocking is blocked with the film winding, all make by one lever. * Frame counter comes to "zero" automatically after opening the back wall for film loading. * Cable release socket is absent. * Tripod mount 1/4". * Dimensions: 33x84x112 mm. * Weight: 385 gr (without lens). * The camera was produced in USSR at BelOMO plant (Belarus) in 1970s.
