‘UMUI +Denim’ is exclusive vintage Kimono upcycled product. The concept is next level of casual luxury shirt to fit your denim with a styles.
This minimalist design is made from antique high-end smooth silk Kimono with auspicious pattern in beautiful bright yellow orange 山吹色 Yamabuki-iro, one of traditional colour from ancient Japan. The colour also represents improving the flow of money in Feng Shui.

Prosperity, good fortune, development
UMUI shirt has purposely no yoke at the back shoulder.
The authentic Kimono has it’s own elegance of the split back
from the collar to the bottom hem.
That is a secret of the beautiful movement of the silk Kimono that always has
the original sewing method of the back.
We remain the Kimono’ atmosphere of it for UMUI clothing.

This product was made of vintage Kimono materials.
We take off all the stitches of Kimono by hand to be one flat fabric, wash and iron the fabric, draw designs, sew to reborn the Kimono
for UMUI.
Please understand that there might be small defects, colour fade, holes, usually vintage garments have from a long storage.
However it’s also the beauty and uniqueness of valuable aged treasures. Also please note that basically we do not accept returns for UMUI items. We kindly request that you carefully review the sizing information and product details before making a purchase to ensure the correct size or product is selected.
We’d be happy to assist you anytime if you have any questions about this matter.
This is not just a upcycled sustainable clothing but it has a human upcycle project too.
UMUI team designs and the sewing is in charge of Machiko(80), Eiko(77) who are over 50 years experienced local seamstresses. Their wisdom and high skill are the key of UMUI collection.
We wouldn’t want to waste both fabric and history of Japanese artisan work of Kimono. We have a warm respect for vintage works
and former Kimono seamstresses.
Each item has ingenious works in various corners of the items such as sleeves, front inner, collars, the pattern matching, balances and patch working. Those tiny efforts to save the material is her speciality.
UMUI’ gift wrapping/box/packaging are all recyclable materials
We aim to be human+eco-friendly for this project.
