The wool from the first shearing of Cheviot sheep from the Outer Hebrides Islands of Scotland is twisted by hand, dyed with plants such as bearberry, blackthorn, blackberry, and privet, and woven in the homes of islanders using human-powered pedal looms. After completion, each roll of cloth is inspected by a professional organization and given a unique number. All of this ensures that Harris Tweed becomes a unique cloth in the world.
If you look closely at the surface of Harris Tweed fabric, you can see some dead grass mixed in. Please don't mind it; just think of it as a greeting from the Outer Hebrides Islands.
