HELIOS-40 a long focus coated lens for old Soviet M39 SLR cameras, later on that lens issued for M42 Zenit, Practica, Chinon, Cosina, Yashica and other SLR cameras with same lens mount. HELIOS-40 scheme is based at double-gauss optical formula, same with famous Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 75mm F1.5. HELIOS-40 lens is intended for shooting portraits, it provide slightly soft (at big aperture) and very pretty images. HELIOS-40 lenses issued at KMZ plant (Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant) in little quantities and always had more better quality than other Soviet lenses for Zenit cameras. HELIOS-40-2 lens was last modification with black body, M42 lens mount and with more common 67mm filter mount. In the main, most all Soviet lenses are exceptionally good and this one is no exception! ITEM'S CONDITION: LIKE NEW The glass is very clear, without fungus, separations or scratches. Aperture blades open and close smooth, focusing is smooth too. Aperture blades shows some oil signs... examine photos please to see it. Cosmetically the lens in nice condition, just examine item's photos, please. All features have been tested and work properly. NOTE: Soviet lens manufacturers wrote even about NEW lenses: "The components of modern high quality lenses are produced from special grades of glass. The smelting process involved causes inevitable formation of gasses which get trapped in the glass to form bubbles. They are always noticed with complex photographic lenses. The bubbles do not affect the lens performance or the quality of the image. Soviet state standards also allows the presence of next minor defects: scratches with the width less than 0.02mm at each surface of each optical element with total length no more than double element's diameter; dots with diameter less than 0.3mm no more than 5 dots; several minor pieces of dust and no more 2 napkin fibers with the length no more 3mm. Therefore, the factory does not accept claims about bubbles and minor defects of clearance found in lenses or exchange such lenses."
