After 1900, coffee gradually became a drink that the average person could afford. Many people enjoy coffee at mealtimes, and Mrs. Melitta is one of them. However, the poorly maintained filter bag, the bitter coffee smell and the annoying coffee grounds are deeply troubled by Mrs. Melitta. The ceramic filters and metal filters used at the time could not solve these problems due to technical relationships. So Mrs. Melitta made a hole in the brass cup and used her son's ink-absorbing workbook to make the world's first single-hole filter cup and coffee filter paper! After applying for a patent in 1908, Mrs. Melitta also established a company, and today she still deeply influences the coffee culture.
The BUDAPEST series was designed and produced by the designer Axel Wolfgang Werner for Melitta in 1968. Radiant geometric patterns with warm sulphur yellow, aqua blue and dark green make people feel calm and quiet. The square bottom of the cup and the square groove on the coffee tray are the charming places of the BUDAPEST series!
