"The more local it is, the more fashionable it is."
Qie Zhi bag, formerly known as Jiazhi (Taiwanese pronunciation, sounds like: Gaki), also known as Jiajianzi, Jiajianzi, retro bag, is a local style handbag in Taiwan. The name comes from the Japanese "かぎ片" "み(kagiami)" refers to its weaving technique. It is said that the eggplant bag originated in Jingliao Lane, Houbi District, Tainan City. It was originally hand-woven from rushes. With the industrialization of Taiwan, it was changed to the commonly used three-color nylon mesh. Due to its soft texture, waterproof and wear-resistant quality and low price, it has become one of the must-buy local specialties for many tourists visiting Taiwan.
