The western-style building was built in 1921 by Chen Jinglan, an overseas Chinese businessman living in Singapore. It was built using fir wood, bricks and tiles, and was plastered on the outside of the brick walls. It was set back on three sides to leave arched balconies. It is the largest western-style building in Kinmen.
