An ancient portrait of King Edward I (1239-1307 CE) of England. Published in the 1840's, this painting was based on ancient sculptures in Carnarvon Castle (Wellese Castell Caernarfon) as a prototype, and was hand-colored after stencil printing. Specific authors cannot be tested. The portrait in London's famous Westminster Abbey church is also said to be Edward I. Edward I, often referred to as Longshanks, Hammer of the Scots, was known for his feats of conquering Wales and his recent conquest of Scotland-and he died on the Scottish border during his journey.
Size: 33.8 cm X 26.2 cm
