This celadon-glazed bowl features beautiful, carefully carved inlay, a deep, transparent green, and fine crazing.
It is slightly larger than a regular rice bowl and can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as for soup or stews, or as a small rice bowl. It is just the right thickness, making it easy to hold and smooth to the touch.
It also makes a great gift. You can enjoy watching the porcelain craze and deepen in color as you use it.
This piece is finished through the following steps: wheel-throwing → carving into the shape of a bowl → carving out the pattern → bisque firing → filling the patterned areas with white mud and wiping off the excess → inner glaze (celadon glaze) → final firing. Because the clay for the ceramic body and the clay (mud) that is filled in are different types, they shrink differently during firing, and sometimes the white clay does not blend well with the recessed areas, so many prototypes are made before the piece is completed.
About Crazing
These are cracks that appear on the surface of ceramics, and are one of the things to enjoy and look out for.
*Do not use microwaves, dishwashers, ovens, cleansers, nylon scrubbers, etc.
