Postcard made for a book fair. / "Encountering a book in a room with a view of the sea" The small book exhibition in the magic forest is dedicated to you who have come from afar. - There are books and sea; mountains and wind; rain; morning dew; sun, moon and stars. A vacation for yourself, in a house with a view of the sea, drinking tea, reading, and cooking for yourself. Every reading is a time of meditation and meditation. This time we have specially prepared a small book exhibition to invite you to enter the world of words anytime, anywhere under the care and company of nature. It doesn’t matter where this journey starts. There is only one direction to go, and it is to meet yourself in the blessing of nature and words. / Why do you like reading? For me, the answer is very simple. Because I have experienced the moment of being "touched by words". Except for tool books, I think most books exist to serve our spiritual life. How important are other people’s life stories to our own? That poem you have never read, tomorrow will come too. Why do we read? I think that the simple desire to "know" may be an ancient nature inherited by humans. Modern Homo sapiens left Africa and crossed the ancient land to reach another corner of the earth. Later, humans walked to cold Siberia and even followed the ocean currents to the other end of the ocean... Why? Because humans have had a love of adventure since the past. From ancient times to the present, human beings have left countless stories over a long period of time. The North Pole, the Antarctic, and even the most distant corners of the earth have also had human footprints. For me, who is not very capable, reading just opens another outlet for my "adventurous nature". At the same time, since we want to talk about being moved, we naturally have to talk about beauty first. The pursuit of beauty is also one of the ancient human natures. The Taitung Museum of Prehistory displays exquisite jades from the Beinan culture, as well as beautiful carvings on pottery urns from the Stone Age using stones, shells, etc. as carving tools. These are not about practicality, but about beauty. Before we had writing or even civilization, the human mind instinctively sought beauty. Therefore, when we read beautiful words, our souls are moved, and this experience enriches our hearts. Beauty exists in this world and serves us in a way that transcends matter. It is precisely because of the existence of these words that can make us feel moved from the soul that we read. I think the biggest factor in the decline in the reading population is that modern people lack a good reading environment. (This environment includes the actual environment and the spiritual environment.) Over the years of opening a bookstore, I have found that there are actually many people who love books and like to buy books, but relatively few people have the time and energy to read well. (People with book hoarding syndrome raise their hands!) (I raise my hand first.) Especially in an era where everyone has a mobile phone, as soon as we slide the phone open, we are connected to an uncountable amount of information. As a result, we feel the vastness of the world, but we also feel anxious about it. We are always afraid of missing something, so we work hard to connect with the world all the time. In this way, although the body has no actual work all day long, it always feels exhausted. I am the operator of a community, and the community is also the main way to promote my career (running a bookstore and writing). For a worker like me, this feeling is particularly profound. The more I understand the vastness of the world, the deeper my loneliness becomes. How should I accompany myself like this? I started thinking like this. So I slowly started to learn to focus on my daily life. I tried cooking, drinking tea, and I tried reading again. The best reading experience I have had in recent years, apart from being on a low-cost airline flight because I had nothing to do but read, was in the Four Seasons Forest in Taitung. How can I express in words the joy that comes from my soul when I resume reading? It is precisely because those experiences belong to you that they are so precious. I would like to invite you to actually experience these things that cannot be explained. Please try to take the morning that meets you seriously when you open your eyes, and concentrate on enjoying the first cup of hot tea after getting up; please try to step on the grass with bare feet, feel the wind and the dew that wets your ankles; please also try to roll up Cooking for yourself on your sleeves, looking at the lawlessly blue sea, listening to the sound of rain gently wrapping the wooden house and singing happy songs...or lying on the ground doing nothing, concentrating on nothing, or picking up something at hand Randomly flipping through a few pages of the book, or sitting on the sea-viewing platform, nestling in a chair and completely immersing yourself in the text...everything is good. Either way, it's good to spend some time with yourself. And in those moments when you focus on life, you gradually feel that although the world is still vast, you know that you are here and truly exist. All feel relieved. This spring, I would like to use this small book exhibition as a song calling you to come. I would like to invite you to let go of your attachments and insecurities about whether you can gain anything, and just come with sensibility. This will be a gift, given to yourself by yourself, an opportunity to expand your life experience. On this journey, books can be guides or simply companions, so please relax and set off. During the journey, nature will also protect you gently. See you in the forest. /
