Freedom Paradise: The clear and high sky is a symbol of the autumn heart
The image originates from the important antiquities of the Taiwan Literature Museum "Nanming Paradise No. 4", and the concept of "The clear and high sky is the symbol of the autumn heart" in Guo Shuitan's Japanese poem "Autumn Heart" in the publication. NMTL's “NMTL's Archive Select - Sparks of Taiwan Literary Inspiration” weaves the theme “utopian wandering” into its beer and drinking glass set with imprints of items and poems from three Taiwan poetry societies of distinctly different historical periods, including the 'Le Moulin', Nanmei Rakuenshya (Southern Seas Paradise), and Banxian poetry societies. Poets flexed their artistic finesse and formed societies with those who shared their passions, creating a utopia of diverse airs and voices.
We've partnered with Taiwan-based Tsai's Actual Brewing Co. and the industrial crafts company GOODGLAS to introduce this 'Utopian Wandering' Literary Beer & Drinking Glass Set. Utopian Wandering – 'Fair Autumn' Double-walled Drinking Glass
Inspired by National Museum of Taiwan Literature collection item Nan-mei-raku-en Issue No, 4.
Carefree Utopian: Crisp, clear skies impart the august spirit of autumn
The illustration here was inspired by one of NMTL's archive treasures, The Journal of Nanmei Rakuenshya, Volume 4, and a line from a Japanese-language poem in this journal by Kuo Shui-tan entitled 'Aki no Kokoro' (Autumn Heart). The line reads: “Clear and spiring skies attest to autumn's arrival”. Inspired by the skies above, mountainous clouds and dark blue and crimson-orange hues are used in poetic diction as symbols of quietude and loneliness and of separation and sorrow. This island is the tapestry upon which poet Kuo Shui-tan makes his inspired wanderings and expresses his passion for creativity.
Nanmei Rakuensha was a particularly eclectic assemblage of poets. Hold this beautiful fall scene in your hands, pour a glass of your favorite beverage, celebrate the gorgeous colors of the sky.
