Cyclades statue in Louvre, France

The head of this marble statue was found on the small island of Kairos. The original work is probably a statue of a naked woman with arms folded under her chest in a slightly arched posture, and her head slightly tilted back. This is the typical style of most figurines belonging to the same group, in other words, "the art of Old Spedos", corresponding to the ancient Cycladic II civilization that flourished around the middle of the third century BC. The characteristic of this series is that the head is almost oval, only the nose is embossed, and the essence of the body is more realistic and therefore less abstract. The Cyclades civilization (3300 BC-2000 BC) is an early Bronze Age culture on the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean Sea. The Cyclades civilization is famous for its marble statues. Most of them are female statues with simple shapes and varying sizes. The cultural meaning of these statues is still uncertain.
