Sima Qian【China】(145 BC ~ 90 BC)
A writer and historian of the Western Han Dynasty. Because he defended Li Ling's defeat and surrender, he angered Emperor Wu of Han and suffered the humiliation of castration. Sima Qian endured humiliation and lived a life determined to complete his great historical work. In 91 BC, he completed the compilation of "Records of the Grand Historian", which has been passed down to this day and is recognized as a model of Chinese history books. Later generations respectfully called Sima Qian "Shi Qian" and "Taishigong". "Records of the Grand Historian" records a history of more than 3,000 years from the ancient Yellow Emperor to the period of Emperor Wu of Han. It is listed as the first of the Twenty-Four Histories in historical books of all dynasties (the Twenty-Four Histories include: "Records of the Grand Historian", "Book of Han", "Records of the Three Kingdoms", etc.). He pioneered the chronicle-style method of writing history, writing biographies of people, which was a change from the previous chronological style of recording. It was later passed down as official history of successive dynasties and had a profound influence on later historiography and literature.

"One Thousand and One Nights", also known as "Arabian Nights", originated from oriental oral literature. It was written in Arabic around the 9th century and collects folk tales from Persia, India and the Arab world. Between the 10th and 16th centuries, it was constantly adapted and rewritten by many people and gradually took shape. It is a shining pearl of Arabic literature and is hailed as the "most magnificent monument" in the history of folk literature.
After it was completed, it circulated in the Arab region until it was introduced to the West in the early 18th century. In 1704, Frenchman Antoine Galland first translated part of the story into French, and later there was an English translation, which made the book more widely circulated. It was then introduced to China via the West in the early 20th century.
The whole book is presented in the framework of stories within stories. Each night may contain many small stories, and each big story spans many nights. The themes are diverse, including love, adventure, moral fables, etc. The background covers a wide range of regions, from heaven to earth, interspersed with beautiful and moving lyrical poems. Beneath the mysterious cloak, one can get a glimpse of various scenes of social life and the voices of ordinary people.
