Nanbu tekki tetsubin japanese cast iron kettle flat and round arare 2.3L - Teapots & Teacups - Other Metals Black

Product Description

This tetsubin has a flat, round shape called a 「hiramaru」 tetsubin. This tetsubin has a sturdy and massive structure, making it not only practical, but also has an outstanding sense of presence as an interior decoration. The design is a traditional Arare pattern. The arare pattern makes the tetsubin thicker and more effective at retaining heat, which is the result of the ingenious wisdom and intricate design of our ancestors, which has been handed down to this day. The quaint, classical design creates a stylish atmosphere in both Japanese and Western kitchens. The top of the tetsubin is accented with an 「itome」 pattern. The beautifully simple 「Itome」 pattern is a traditional pattern that has been handed down since ancient times. The thin, beautiful line pattern, which imitates itome, symbolizes the world of the tea ceremony and the Japanese sense of beauty. The rim of the lid is also decorated with the arale and itome patterns. The inside is finished with a rust-resistant finish using the traditional 「kama-yaki」 technique. Kamayaki is done by firing the tetsubin in a high-temperature oven. This process forms an oxide film on the surface of the tetsubin. The oxide film stabilizes the iron content of the tetsubin. The flavor of boiled water is improved and rust and corrosion are prevented. Rust-proofing by kettle firing is a traditional technique that has been handed down since ancient times. The handle is fixed. Large capacity 2.3L large cast iron kettle. It is ideal for boiling a large amount of water at once or for making tea. Compatible with gas and induction cookers. ※Do not use on high heat. History of Oiharu casting works Oiharu casting works was established in 1952. The trade name is Nanbu Hoseido.
