Everything originated from the farmers market in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA.
"Inspired by Grandma Pearl's delicious blueberry pie," Jim said, he wanted to create the taste of a freshly baked pie filled with delicious, ripe blueberries. And Jim did. Every time he opens the wild Maine blueberry jam, it reminds him of his grandmother.
Started by Jim Stott and Jonathan King at Jim's family's summer home, they spent countless hours cooking jam, handwriting labels, taking photos, and selling the product. It slowly evolved into a family affair: nephews and nieces filled bottle after bottle of jam into jars, 90-year-old grandmother Pearl helped glue the burlap to the jar lids, and Jonathan’s mother served as The clerk sells jam.
Over the years, Stonewall Kitchen has received 29 awards from the Specialty Food Association, including three Outstanding Product Line honors. In 2015, Stonewall Kitchen is honored and grateful to be inducted into the Specialty Foods Hall of Fame.
The Stonewall Kitchen headquarters and store have become one of Maine's largest tourist destinations, and Stonewall Kitchen has grown from producing just a few dozen bottles of jam for farmers' markets to now being a supplier producing approximately 75,000 bottles of jam per day.
