|| The inheritance of three generations of grass fragrance, the inheritance of three generations of weaving ||
"Xiquan" is a third-generation natural grass hand-knitting shop from Dajia, Taichung. Grandpa Guo Xiquan founded the hat and mat shop in 1947 with products made from Taiwanese rush. Now, the third generation has joined. In addition to passing on the inheritance, they also use the grandfather’s name as the name of the shop to continue his love for knitting.
In Xiquan's family, there are the third generation and her mother who love knitting. Indispensable is the group of grandmothers and aunts who love knitting to accompany Xiquan, inheriting traditional culture and developing innovative designs together.
The three generations of Xiquan have weaved the long culture of their hometown, continuing the authentic craftsmanship and becoming a part of daily life. The simple feel comes from the texture given by nature, and it is also the emotion for home.

Taiwan rush, a plant unique to central Taiwan, has a charming natural grassy fragrance.
Rush was mostly used for weaving straw mats in the early days, so it is also called "mat grass". It is very hygroscopic, breathable and smooth against the skin. It already feels cool when you touch it, and it will become more shiny with time. It is a natural fiber with a sense of life.
There has been a rush weaving culture in Taiwan for nearly three hundred years. Every item is hand-knitted by local grandmothers and aunties, and is full of Taiwanese spirit.
|| The rush weaving process ||
Growth | Growth over 3-4 months
Exposure | After harvesting, expose to the sun for about 2-4 months to completely dry out the water.
Grass skimming | Classify the grass according to its length and remove some of the grass tails
Grass selection | Grass of even thickness will be selected before weaving
Weed pulling pants | Pull out the leaves that are not fully grown at the grass head
Mallet Grass | Destroys the structure of the grass, making it softer and easier to weave
If you want to weave more detailed items, there will be two more processes - "analyzing the grass" (subdividing the original triangular rush into two to three equal parts), and "kneading the grass" (after kneading, the inside of the grass will be White fiber removal)

I heard from my grandma and mother that people in the past could raise grass.
They like black and gold rushes very much
The color of rush usually changes with time of use.
But some people want to speed up and become black gold
I will specially use tea water to wipe it.
