Salads play an important role in many former Soviet countries. There are hundreds of different types of salads, and the variety continues to grow. If a table is full of various salads, especially stacked salads, it means that it is a good day or celebration.
Although these dishes are all called "salads," the image in people's minds can be very different. In many cases, salads are a satisfying main course. The process of making them ranges from simple to complex, and every little detail is as delicate as baking a cake.

The mimosa salad, also known as the Thousand Layer Salad or the Silver Tree Salad, is a vibrant dish that first appeared on the tables of the Soviet people in the 1970s. The golden crumbled egg yolks sprinkled on the milky-white salad resemble the silver mimosa flowers that bloom bright yellow in early spring against the white snow. Hence, the salad is named after the silver mimosa (Mimosa species) which belongs to the Fabaceae family.
This salad is rich and layered, with a rich taste, consisting mainly of eggs, onions, fish, and Russian-style mayonnaise. Since the Soviet era, it has become a very popular dish for celebrations. Now, in addition to many former Soviet countries, innovative versions with fruit can also be found in places like Sweden.
In addition to its delicious taste, the mimosa salad is also known for its unique appearance. Various unique shapes, such as a cake-like form, can be created according to one's preferences and creativity. This salad is an impressive dish for any occasion and an excellent choice for adding color and joy to celebrations or gatherings.
(On that day, the salad was made in a cake-like form.)
